A Study in Pink

Sherlock Holmes is presented as very intelligent and arrogant. He is dismissive of people he feels are not as intelligent as himself, and can come across intimidating when analysing people, especially when he assumes personal information correctly. Holmes is also an eccentric character as he thinks very quickly and is difficult to keep up with. His eccentricity causes others to view Holmes as a 'psychopath'. They also think this because of his excitement for investigating cases.
Doctor Watson has returned from the war, both physically and mentally damaged. He has a crutch for his wounded leg, which he later discovers is only in his head. Watson is bored of life back in London, this is obvious when he says "nothing happens to me". He's bored because he misses the action of war which means he is excited when Sherlock asks him to be his companion.
Mrs Hudson is Sherlock's nosey landlady. She enjoys gossip, this is shown when she is pointing out news stories in the paper and passes comment about one of their neighbours. She is easily controlled and Sherlock takes advantage of her motherly nature. She often says "I'm your landlady, not your housekeeper" however, is always ignored so she does as Sherlock asks.

Media Representation

The media shows us the real world in a different way to real life- in a different version of reality, like a parallel universe.
the theory of media representation is how the media presents a particular person, or group of people, to the audience. for example, teenagers are generally presented as miserable and full of angst.

I looked at the beaverwoodmedia hub and found these three parts most helpful and interesting:

1. I found 'How to Create a Blog on Blogger' most helpful as I haven't used this website before so I wasn't sure how to create my blog. This gave a simple step-by-step guide which helped me a lot.
2. The 'Brief introduction to TV Drama' was interesting and helpful to me as it informed me on what to look for in television dramas when summarising them.
3. I also found the exemplar bridging unit blog interesting as it gave ma good idea on how to write my blog posts.
